Big versus small yields

About a week ago I started pruning lower fan leaves and upper ones that were yellow. I was not worried about the color since I’m so close to harvest. I think the flushing causes them to yellow.
I don’t touch sugar leaves. They seem to feed the bud and they also have a fair amount of trikes.
Since I am not marketing this, I keep the sugar leaves on my bud. I consider them part of my product and may use them for edible brew.
Happy Growing

If you know what strain the photo is you can look on line for flowering time when you flip it takes about a week for to start pre flowering that’s when you start the count from there most strain 8 to 12 weeks to finish @SlingShot

She owns the tent. I’m going to let her grow up thru the Scrog for a week before I pull back on the light. Will give me a little time to get her trained and prune the lowers.

She’s beautiful! Nicely done. :+1:

She’ll just about double in size by the end of flower. When you open her up in a scrog like that, she’s going to need another layer of trellis to help support her buds. When they get big on the long end of a branch, it’s a lot of leverage.

Also, do the schwazz node pruning the day you before you flip. When you change the schedule go ahead and give her extra hours of darkness the first night. Once she switches to flower the new nodes will be flower nodes instead of new sucker branches.

Wow!! That’s scary! I’m going to let her just veg for a couple of weeks first.
I’m in no rush.
Then I’ll try it.
Thanks

@Daddy1971
Do you do Kush chiropractor training on your plants?
I watched the video four times and it gives me the creeps.
Strangling and twisting scares me. Have you done this? Are there downsides?
You’ve guided me this far. I trust your advice.

Thanks

I wouldn’t advise using it unless you needed to and you had a specific goal in mind. Being that you’re already in a scrog, I can’t think of a good reason why you would want to use it. You can use the net to stretch out your branches horizontally instead.

The part I was recommending was the node pruning he does first in the video. This is called “schwazzing”. If you want to know more about it do a search on that word.

@SlingShot I have not seen a reason to try that chiropractic technique, scares me too!..using the net trellis and bending branches and good trimming practice has worked for me

@SlingShot i agree with @CurrDogg420 and @retiredoldguy if your useing scrog there’s no need but your next grow if you want i can teach you there’s no need to be scared cannibas plants are tough plants and can handle alot if you have some stretching weave them through the scrog you don’t want your scrog to tight so you can slack in it so you can do so

Okay, thanks all.
And I will research schwazzing.

@retiredoldguy I did chiropractic on my girls for the first time this grow…I too was scared!

But damn, it worked! I cracked them and bent them outwards, a little LST here and there, crack crack. Couple of days later, knuckles were appearing where I cracked. Throughout the rest of the grow, I didn’t need to support the buds or anything, good till harvest!

And ya, I fucked a couple of cracks up, nothing some tape and bamboo skewer didn’t fix! A week later, she was able to support that branch on her own!

Try it on one plant. After a week, maybe you will see the benefit and try it on the rest. Or not. But you will know, and you will be in your comfort zone and do what works for YOU at YOUR comfort level. I will admit that this forum has shifted my comfort level, from years ago attitudes of “it’s a plant, it knows what it needs” to “folks say this increases potency, I’ll give it a try!”

And ya, I try more things these days…my tent is in my garage, which is where I am allowed to toke. And when I’m baked, I tend to open the tent and admire them, take a leaf here, a leaf there, crack a branch or two…3 hours later you go WTF did I just do!!! And a week later they’re back in full vigor!

Thanks for that. I did not know that about the bamboo skewer thing. I did damage the main stem so I just lobbed it off. But knowing what you said, I might have been able to save it.
Not to worry. It was just a lower prune but split and recovered nicely.
I’ll probably pass on the twist and turn on this one. Only one in the tent and I am letting her have it all. After this, I’ll grow some Fast Fem Banners. I have four seeds and if they all germ, I’ll definitely needs to manage the light in my tent with every technique I got. I’ll know more as this gal grows. Hell, she ain’t sprouted her first bud yet. Of course, I am holding her in veg until the new year.

I’m an old boy too. Besides toking for free, this is a great hobby for us antiques. In a way, it is ironic. Remember when we were not to trust anyone over thirty? And “cool” was a codeword that meant someone wasn’t a narc.
Now here we are. LOL

Okay, I shifted light cycle today. Or today will be her first long dark day.
I’m kicking her into flower with the first day 14 dark.
After that, I’ll go 12 and 12

If I’m doing anything wrong or missed anything, let me know. I still have time to keep her in veg.
Thanks

I moved into a Flower light cycle a week ago. Other than continuing to grow like a monster, what will be the first indication that she is going into Flower?

@SlingShot,
The first thing you will see is the leaf nodes will stagger on the new growth. Vs side by side leaf nodes in veg. Then just look for pistils to grow. You know the rest. We won’t jinx it by says ba**s.

Though we were going by pre-flower check s, can someone put the question to rest?

Should I be topping this?
I watched a guy in YouTube doing the schwaz prune. Though he never says what he is doing, he seems to be pinching the end of the stems.

@SlingShot

This pic here is definitely a boy. I think your girl tucked her balls away for a while to fool us all. You have a rooster.

They will open up and rain this week I bet. You should save some pollen in a jar for making seeds later. If you have any interest in doing that. Or cut it out today.

I feel so bad for you, I see him all trained up into that scrog perfectly. If I were closer to you I would bring you over a tray of clones or a bag of seeds. Sorry

Okay thanks. I did get a lot of education. As the Cultavar instructions say, it is not for beginners. So, I guess I proved to myself that I’m no longer a beginner.
