Gelato in first tent

Here are a couple buds taken early. 64% RH and 79 deg F at 4:00

They both had something going on, so I nipped them to get a closer look. Spider mites! I removed the sites and am drying to try. We will see what kind of effects I get from 5 1/2 wk bud. I have been diligent in removing newer affected areas. I hope early detection and constant policing will allow me to get a harvest. Stay tuned.

Yikes! Bud wash peroxide & water, rinse shake hang & have a fan blowing on them: then normal drying may help :yin_yang: Watching

I have a new USB microscope. I haven’t figured out how to use it to get pics on the site yet, but it is a game changer to help me see the ripeness of the triches. The Ruebud plant is showing a good amount of cloudy triches, so I am thinking about taking the tops on Friday, the 7 week mark of flower. There is no data for it, but I know when last year’s harvest was, and I can see the abundance of amber triches from that generation’s harvest. That tells me that it is a 7 to 9 week flowering plant. I will take the main tops at 7 weeks and let the secondary buds ripen for another week or two.

I will see how tasty. I have an idea that the heat may have burnt off some of the triches and flavenoids of some of the more volatile and subtle aromas and flavors. We will see. It got quite warm in there during the hot weather.

Upside, maybe the taste will be simpler and more pure.

Those volatile Turpines I never have it’s always hot here, either while growing or grinding and stuffing cones! For me the head is most important. Taste then aroma :yin_yang: Round out my top 3

Our main preference is not taste, which is always nice, but smoke. If it smokes smoothly and doesn’t choke you and has the right effect, then we are happy. If we take a toke and then say, “Ooh!”,then that’s just gravy on the toast.

7 1/2 weeks of flower. I think this Ruebud is a quick finisher. I plan on taking the rest of the main buds on Friday (8 wk) and let the rest mature more to see if it will make a good evening smoke. The main buds are for me.

And after.

I am going to let her age in hopes to get more amber triches for the evening.

Things are winding down. Temps are good now. I’m just waiting for the triches to ripen; about 70% cloudy now, most of the hairs are colored, leaves are faded and falling off. She knows winter is coming. Here’s some pics:
