Me too @Adcrag, my wife just this morning was looking thru my pics and looked at me and said " I remember when you used to take pictures of me but now they’re all of your mistress in the closet "…
Here we are, December 8th. 26 days from Pop. No fertilizer yet, though I will begin a WEAK mix of Tiger Bloom and Cultivation Nation Bloom at 1/4 strength. So far, it’s been relying on the soil for nutes.
I tied her down without much trouble. She’s of Short stature anyway, but with a tent has a four-foot ceiling, there’s no such thing as “short” enough. She’s a bit “all over the place”, but I’m shooting for the flattest canopy possible.
I think you have beautiful plants.
A-TY, a-ty. Now comes the Stage, where everything goes wrong lol…the flowering stage. Hope I can navigate that, better than my first grow.
Just think of how boring it would be if things always went as we pictured. Sister Cannabis likes to teach us how to adapt and overcome. Trust me on this, I mangled the hell out of mine and thought I was going to cry myself to sleep every night for a month. They bounced back. Sometimes it’s all in how we phrase our sentences.
For instance: Now comes the flowering stage, where I ran into the most trouble last time, but this time I have a little more knowledge. (I’m learning to be a magnet for the proper things, thank you for helping me)
@ How often do you have to water growing in solo cups? Best strain for that method?
@Jared Boy that is a loaded question. Any watering is done when watering is needed. We water the medium, not the plant. Impossible to over-water that way. It does not matter HOW MUCH we give them it matters HOW OFTEN. Let the medium dry our between waterings. If you have drainage, the excess will always drain out. Your medium (and how much the plant drinks) determines how often you water.
Best strain - Are you going to keep them in SOLO cups for the lifecycle? Indica is always a shorter, bushier plant. Sativa tends to stretch and be tall. There are dwarf varieties (gotta google that, most come from Europe and there are only a few), and auto’s will stay smaller than photo period so we tend to lean towards Indica, heavy Indica hybrid strains, auto flowering - to grow in a SMALL container. If you are going to transplant them, doesn’t matter what you grow.
@Mrb53004 i had researched growing in 4 in terracotta pots with a wick system for watering. I was definitely intriged with the idea but got side tracked with everything else i got going on. When i saw your setup it made me wonder why i put the small pot grow on the back shelf. I still have to hold down a job ( 12 hours a day) plus 1 hour drive each way so all i could do is water twice a day on a 15-9 schedule. Really doubt that would be enough. Hence the watering question.
You either go with an automated watering system or add a moisture holding medium. like vermiculite. It will keep the medium moister longer. Only watering I know of multiple times in a day is a hydro / heavy coco medium. If the temps and rh are good, you should be able to do 1 a day. Terracotta absorbs moisture and expels it through evaporation. I only use it for outdoor as it is a great insulator from the heat
Also, please feel free to just kick me for coming across as a pompous. I’m sorry if I came across as such. I hope you have had and continue to have a great day!
I probably should have put in a Screen, for a SCROG method…but I chose not to. I’d like to be able to withdraw my plant from the tent, when it needs attention…though I know that soon I won’t be able to. It’s already a bit crowded up in there. Don’t want to break off any flowers.
My next (3rd) Grow will be in a larger tent, with a bigger and better light. I’ll do the SCROG in that one.
Does your fan oscillate back and forth? If not, I’m wondering if you have some straps that you could use to suspend it? @Darkheart420 showed some great ways to make space. I know all about breaking flowers and branches, one good shake from me and it’s like a martial arts workout.
It sounds pretty Hokey, but it works: A small 5" Electronics cooling fan, hung from the frame of my tent with nylon string. It provides Just Enough breeze, to get the leaves & branches quivering. Had it lying around…
I think anything more might be too much, in such an enclosed space (2x2x4 ft).
Ugh. I’m getting to know how my new brain works and sometimes it forgets to add pertinent details. I was thinking of the fan that’s sitting in the back of your tent? Perhaps being able to move that out of the way somehow is what I was referring to. I don’t think your idea sounds hokey at all.
I appreciate your patience, I’m feeling like I need a nap and I guess I’m a toddler now. Haha!
@Bulbous52 what do you use for power supply for these 5-12v dc pc case fans
How do you connect to the charging cube? The pin cable from the fans are usually just that 2/3 pin motherboard connector. What is your interface?
I have the 6" inline Vivo fan and did just that. I set it up on the right exterior side of my tent. Filter on the floor, motor above it, black hose up into the top exhaust port of the tent and the left side of my tent I opened the port there so I have CO2 coming in bottom and heat / rh being exhausted from top right side
I plugged mine into a charging cube, standard for I-Phones. I use a standard charge cord (spare) for I-Phones, too. Works fine. Only draws like .2 amps. Mine’s on 24/7.
Oh THAT fan. It’s a Vivosun 4" Inline exhaust fan, duct-taped to a 16" charcoal filter (with pre-filter cotton sleeve). Works fine, for small grows.
You know, you bring up a good point. I COULD put in on the floor outside the tent, as well. That might free-up enough space for another plant
Then we will just rewind back to this conversation and it will be like it never happened. Haha! I’m kidding. I do the same thing.
No worries here. I did not take offense.
Please reread my post as I asked more details on the 5" fans and how I hooked up my 6" Vivo
