First time grower here just looking for tips. Wanna go in prepared. Any recommendations for particular anti-pest products that won’t hurt my plants?
Mammoth makes great prevention products, neem oil on non flowering plants, and fungus gnat traps (yellow sticky paper) work well.
Sometimes I feel the sticky yellow gnat traps has saved (some) sanity!
Sierra has an organic approach
also, if growing in organic / living soil, expect gnats, thrips, etc
tent or outdoors? each has its own issues
hydro - whole different world
consider companion plants… Chamomile is good against pests and whiteflies
BASIL help the terpenes…more flavor, better strength, aroma
I grow t alongside, in its own container as to not have roots fight for nutrition / space. Outdoors, within 1 foot of my plants
I know I’m late to the party, but I wanted to comment on neem oil. Gardening in Canada on YouTube has a great video on neem oil. It appears neem oil’s effectiveness is pretty unreliable because of a variety of factors. The woman who does the videos is a soil scientist and clearly knows her stuff. I have been using an organic product that contains a lot of sulfur. It has not only been helpful, but if you spray it on the soil it will help reduce your pH (mine is too neutral) as well as kill the gnats. Won’t hurt your plants at all.
