Alice at 61 days, 2nd week of flower
I still don’t know if you can seethe bling yet, but I’m seeing some color start to sneak in there.
So here is something I hadn’t mentioned, but a week after 12/12, I took out the 25 w 3000K led bulb and put in the UV light. The UV bulb has a switch on the fixture so it doesn’t run with the other lights. I have only had it on for about 5-10 minutes twice, last week, just wanting to let Alice know that it is out there. I wonder if that is why I am seeing color in my water leaves this early in the flowering phase. Now I only have the 9w 2700K led and my 120 w ViparWorks Pro led lights, which are adjustable in intensity. I have a habit of turning it down to 80% before the dark cycle, imitating the intensity of the sun at the end of the day. When they come on they are not full on either. I turn them up at around 10AM. I don’t know if this makes a difference, but I do it anyway. You know the sungoes behind the clouds every once in a while, too.
I watered yesterday with Ph corrected solution to 6.52. Thanks to @MDBuds for the apple cider vinegar suggestion to bring down the Ph, worked great. I also put in just a touch of molasses and 2/3 strength Flower Fuel. Alice seems very happy. Temps are around 60 deg. F at night and up to 70 F during the day. RH is hovering around 50%, down from 55-60 because we are entering the mid-flower phase of the grow. I plan on lowering the RH to 40% in a couple of weeks, as we get closer to the final phase of flowering.
Pics tomorrow.
Alice 65 days, 3rd week of flower. I hope the color is not some kind of deficiency. Looks like I had the lights too bright for the shot.
I had a gelato that did this too and I worried about it just like you. She was close to finish so I ignored it. Was it a deficiency probably but I did not want to make matters worse. Maybe some one with more knowledge than me can answer that. Nice bud development though.
@Darodguy that’s just the natural fade that starts happening mid flower with many plants. The bottom leaves will start to yellow first and begin to change colors. Yellows, oranges, purples, blues, pinks, magentas, all kinds of shades. In mid to late flower don’t worry about fading and color changing leaves unless they are accompanied by dark brown spots, scorch/burn marks, gray/white spots, or necrosis
@Darodguy right now would also be a perfect time for a top dress to carry her the rest of the way through flower too if you’re growing organics.
@MDBuds I had it goin’ organic until the Flower Fuel. The only thing I have is earthworm castings.
The coloring has no dark spots or spots of any other kind. They are really beautiful and seem natural. It just seems too early in the flowering stage. I am only 4 wks from flip, 17 days from flower. Well these are Banner Fasts; everything else in the grow has been fast, why not the flowering?
@Lynyrdsky 2 weeks ago I was admiring your “first grow photo-mentory” and especially the coloring of the gelato. I grew my Gelato guerrilla, so I didn’t get to see it on a regular basis, and now I have my own rainbow plant. I guess that’s just Alice prettying up. All of the pistols are still white, and the buds are nugging up nicely. I think I’ll just sit back and start counting my blessings.
@Darodguy banner fast is 6-8 week flower so week 3 is mid flower when the fade usually starts. You can top dress with worm castings just fine. They’re good to use in flower if you don’t over do it. Just about a 1 inch layer on top of the soil will get it through until she finishes.
Good looking grow. I’m growing the same. Mine went in the dirt Jan 4th but mine had an extended veg period due to me having a seed mix and thinking I was growing Autos.
I flipped 21 days ago.
Staying pretty green. I’m using Mix-A-Soil, recharged for the second use. I add a Tbsp. of black molasses every third watering. I also add a little ‘P’ and ‘K’ about every 5th. I prune yellow fans when they look like they are not supporting the growth. I’m looking at a mid-April harvest.
Looking great Sling. I’m exactly 4 weeks from flip and the buds are really gaining in girth. Alice got all her growth in stem between flip and flower. Now they are just fattening up.
@MDBuds Alice is still a little heavy. Water tomorrow. I’ll mix some fresh worm castings in with some soil from my garden. I have a spot where I mixed some rabbit droppings in a couple of months ago. Hoping it will give her a nice heads up for the rest of the grow. My wife is really impressed with the colors. She bought the worm castings for her flowers, so it doesn’t add to the cost of this grow, right? I’m still at $20. That should bring this grow to less than a buck per gram easily.
@Darodguy if you already have it on hand I’d say no it doesn’t add to the cost. I generally try to use what I have on hand too without buying more things.
@MDBuds @Darodguy that’s called creative accounting…if I buy a bale of ProMix for $40 and use only half of it on this run, I figure that’s $20 worth. Next grow, I have half a bale on hand that didn’t cost me for that grow. Doesn’t make it free! Still $20!
All you’ve done is made your wife’s flowers more expensive.
My grow this time should be real cheap…I do have 2/3 bale of ProMix and half jugs of Advanced Nutrients ferts left! If I didn’t cook 2 seeds already dead and 1 replacement I don’t know if it’ll make it, my grow would be real cheap. But if I end up with 3 plants from 6 seeds at $10 each…ouch! Maybe I’ll only include the cost of the survivors, not include the cost of the medium or the nutes, then I can tell the wife it only cost me $30 this grow! Sounds better than $60 for seeds, $15 for medium and $60 for nutes!
I use my own kind of math. The lights and fan (the grow room) I already figured into last year’s costs. The seeds I bought last year 36 at $354 total, so I count that as $10 a seed. It just makes it easier to figure. My wife bought me my Ph tester for Christmas; I don’t count that. The worm castings I added into last year’s costs and she used some of it last year so she decided to buy some this year. The Flower Fuel I bought last year, I will get several years of use, but I figured it into last year’s costs. I just refuse to re-figure every time I use something. Hard-headed I guess.
I forgot, I don’t count energy, because I have Solar panels.
I know. My first harvest (12.5 oz) paid for the tent and lights and everything, if you figure $100/oz which is what I have to pay for weed when I run out. Energy is 70cents/day at 18/6 so I figure that’s still cheap. Still a cheap and oh so rewarding hobby!
Are you powering your grow lights directly from solar panels?
I.e. Solar Panel =>Battery bank=>Inverter=>Grow lights
