Has anyone made cannabis root tea and if so what was it like and how did you prepare it. I’m trying to figure out if tea or powder is better. Just trying to use every part of the plant.
I’ve tried using the roots after harvest in a couple of ways. The first is to wash them really well, scrape off the outer bark and then dry them thoroughly. Once they’re dry you can simmer chopped root in water for an hour or so with ginger and honey to make a mild tea. It has an earthy, slightly bitter flavour but some people swear by it for joint pain and inflammation.
You can also dry the clean roots and grind them into a fine powder using a coffee grinder. That powder can be added to smoothies, soups or put into capsules. It’s a bit more fibrous and the taste isn’t great on its own, so mixing it with other flavours helps. In both cases you’re not going to get high but the roots do contain triterpenes and alkaloids that might have therapeutic properties.
Whichever method you choose, make sure to wash the roots thoroughly to remove any soil or fertilizer residues. It comes down to personal preference – I find tea easier on the stomach but others prefer powder for convenience.
