Saving the day!!! I appreciate you, it was really boggling my mind. I was stuck on leaf miners.
She’s about to turn into a Chrysalis, it looks like.
This is called cabbage white they lay eggs all around the garden
@Newbie101 no the caterpillars wouldn’t cause that unless they brought a fungal or bacterial infection with them.
It’s likely just from heat and whatever soap you sprayed on.
Do they eat everything? Asking because I saw one this morning.
I think the rips of leaves turning yellow is because,In my personal grow,I noticed anything sprayed on injured leaves is sucked into leaves holes, which yellow.I am thinking your soap spray was drawn into the leaves through the holes ,which moved to your leaf tips.I use to kill insects that attack my plants.100 percent cold pressed neem oil mixed in this ratio…3ml neem oil mixed with 3 drops of dawn dish soap to 1 gallon of pH balanced, filtered water, make ur pH 6…0
Yes they will they fly around garden lay eggs on everything i keep everything dusted with 8 dust works well
The males don’t have the spots on there wings.i also have bird houses around my garden the bird eat most of them
I’m striving towards a place I can have birdhouses. I love them.
I grow bird house gourds make my own they work really well
I would love to see them. That sounds awesome. I have some snake gourd seeds I haven’t had an opportunity to start.
Coming in a little late here. I would recommend trying neem oil as a foliar - it works awesome for me. I never have bug issues with neem. Just throwing it out there! Cheers!
I am thinking white flies. Check for a white flies to. I never see them during the day only at sunset the damage is done. White flies never hang out. That has been my observations. They do the damage quick and then takeoff. I found spraying them in the face with ammonia tends to make them take off and leave my plants alone after a couple days. Then I pinch off all of the effected leaves. I have never needed anything stronger.
You Definitely cannot pinch off your all the effected leaves or your plant would be naked. Maybe pinch off the worst ones first to start promoting new growth. I also plant a lot of sacrificial potatoes. (Maybe try 1-2 next year i between). I just noticed all the bugs in the garden mess with the potatoes first. Whiteflies leave holes in my potato plant leaves instead of my cannabis when given a choice. I basically space baby potato between each cannabis plant. Seems to be working like a champ because my potatoes are holy and pierced and my Cana leaves are shining in the sun.
Not to disagree with MDbuds. He is a man. But outdoor I notice caterpillars like to chew the leaves off. Not in lines like the leaf minors, nor in holes like you see. . They cut off the actual leaf lobes 1 by 1 always. I totally agree with Daddy1971 that imaged the white cabbage moths. I get those here all the time. Here is a picture of what their caterpillars look like they’re light green and super small. Like the old inchworm on Sesame Street.
I never see them more than about a quarter inch to a 1/2 inch long and maybe no thicker than a strand of spaghetti. They usually dangling from a silk after they hatch and try to climb to the tops of the plants. At the tops they’re looking for buds to nest into and eat the buds from the inside out. There’s nothing worse than caterpillar‘s once you have buds. Once they’re inside the buds your shit out of luck. BT destroys caterpillars. Like a nuke.
Pinching caterpillars between your fingers too always gives a rewarding pop. That definitely looks like a little caterpillar cocoon in the image. But I humbly think you have some white flies too. Check for them at sunset. They look like oversize mosquitoes that move fast like houseflies.
Hey guys sorry for the delay!! Site restricted my comments cause I’m new and work gets in the way. Tried some neem oil from a buddy. Bugs seem to have tapered off for now no more holes in new growth at all thanks for the advice!! The one issue that still rearing its ugly head is the burning tips. I’ve only gave it nutes once in the last 3 weeks. We’ve had lots of rain and I’ve flushed it a few times. They still seem healthy but new growth is getting burnt tips. Awaiting on a better ph tester to check soil now. Wondering if this is too much Sun/ heat causing this?
Again thanks for all your help guys you all are awesome!!!
My GUESS would be heat/humidity related. Considering the substantial amount of rain lately, I doubt it is the soil content. Def worth a check once your ph tester comes in though. Did you ph the spray used to remedy the nuisance bugs or use well/tap water?
If leaves grow outwards like we do, burnt ends tells you what since circulation comes from the core and moves outward?
If that were my hand, why are the tips of my fingers rotting like a diabetic patients would?
