I tried something this time in one of my compost pile i put black soldier flies boy you talking about breaking down you put any food waste and they attack you see them come up after.then they reach last stage of there life they go sleep like then when get hot wet they hatch to adult fly i tried the compost in one bucket im growing in i had about 7 or 8 hatched fly strips got them they didn’t harm the plant at all no problems nexts spring im trying some new things with the black soldier flies

I use it when transplanting. I grow in a hybrid system which is soil and hydroponics. It’s hydro part is a trough and fabric bag with soil. Using a wicking system. I the use it when I make compost teas every other week.
