Flowering Time Begins When

I read the grow guides and see weeks to harvest.

What I don’t understand is:

Beginning when?

When it develops its first true leaves?

Are they saying 8-10 weeks from when it starts pre-flowering?

It is vague, the flowering descriptions. When they say "flower 7 to 8 weeks ",they mean that many weeks from when the plant starts to produce pistols until ripe and ready to harvest. That is pretty much true for autos and photos. Of course, every plant will have its own say in the matter.

I was starting with the first set of true leaves.

No wonder my timing was off.

When you flip your lights to 12to12 hrs that is when you start to count

@Magoo147 No. I wish it was that easy. Some plants take only 4 or five days from flip. Most take a week or two before they start showing the female flowers, depending on the cultivar or individual plant. That is why they say 7-9 weeks, for example. Good luck.
These questions are exactly why they have these forums.

I still go by the old school rule of thumb: flip plus 10 days . . . just add 10 days to the breeder’s estimate to allow it time to transition into flower if counting from flip.
