How do I accurately measure DLI when using a light rail?

@frogyrogy I use photone. If you have an android phone, you can select what type of light you have, and it’s fairly accurate. I use it for ppfd and LDI. Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks for the reply. I use the Photone app on iPhone with full spectrum LED unlocked, I just don’t know how to get an accurate DLI under a moving lamp. I added a couple of feet to one side of the flower room the other day and thought about adding a light rail to expand coverage.

I’m new to the growing game. I have not done a grow in 43 years that was outside. I have a 5 by 5 tent.FC 6500, 6 inch inline fan, plenty of auxiliary fans. Organic soil. Pro mix hp, earthworm castings, perlite, Gaia, green organic amendments. water will be PH between 6.3 and 6.8. PH will be done organically with a lemon. I will be using tapwater that has a PH of 7.2.
80% of my grow will be gg#4 auto the rest, will be pineapple Xpress auto,OG ghost auto. I’ve done my studies and I’m ready to go with this any day. Any recommendations or pointers you would have for me?

Sounds like your going Organic, so the PH is not important since you will be feeding the Soil not the plant. :yin_yang::v:t6:

I gave up on outdoors after '85, If you haven’t grown indoors, or been out of the game for years . . . I’d suggest starting with feminized photoperiods rather than autos. People like to market autos as easier to grow and faster to harvest . . . all smoke and mirrors to sell more seed. They aren’t easier, faster or the same quality bud as photos . . . and if your environment isn’t dialed in you’ll likely be disappointed with your results.

Only “advantage” to autos is, in my opinion, their biggest disadvantage . . . no control over when they start to flower. No vegging an extra week to fill the canopy or to take clones . . . they flower when they want, generally between 3-6 weeks growth.

Plenty of growers will disagree with me when it comes to autos but the best harvests and best quality come from photoperiod plants . . . and no clones if you hit a strain/pheno that you really like. Autos are one and done . . . no clones, monster crop, reveg, etc.

@isacc7766 Looks like you have a good handle on your setup. I use apple cider vinegar to ph my tap water with good results.

Yes, I have come to realize and understand this about autos Also. Glad to hear it coming from someone experienced. I was thinking along the lines of everything you’re telling me. I’m already planning my next grow. It will definitely be photo. Unfortunately, I’ve already purchased the auto flower seeds, so I’m going to grow them. I do have a picture of a pineapple Xpress auto that I am currently growing also a CBD auto. I will be putting those on the site soon.

Thank you on the tip with the apple vinegar. The more I floor online and see all the people growing with nutrients and their issues they are having, I’m even more glad I’m going organic.

Thank you, I was doing it so as to error on the safe side.

They only have issues if they fail to follow a proven feed chart for the nutrient line they are using . . . if a person can follow a recipe without tinkering with it, then provide it to the plant properly at correct pH and EC you will never see a nutrient related deficiency.

You see the biggest issues for soil growers . . . it is the most difficult medium and belongs outside, it really isn’t container friendly when compared to other medias.

I built my super soil about 10 days ago. I have it stored in plastic sealed containers. I have been mixing it every couple of days. It hasn’t got very warm. I followed Subcool’s rescipe verbatim. Isn’t it supposed to get hot when its working?

I maybe mistaken, but i believe you need a large volume to see high temps:

Two questions. 1 What is the earliest you can start to flower after transplanting?
2 Is there a good reusable 4x4 or any scrog net that has no fibers to shed.

There isn’t a time limit per say: watch the plant they all don’t slow down or have any signs of shock: i have seen coated metal fencing used. I personally use string to make my scrog that way i can just cut the plant out during Harvest :yin_yang:

Don’t know if I should abort my grow ?
I’ve been growing outdoors the last couple of years and this year decided to grow indoors using a 4x4 tent, germinating the seeds went well as usual, planted seedlings in solo cups no problem.
Problems started happening when I transferred the solo cups to the tent, fan leaves on lower nodes look like crap, upper nodes fan leaves tips are turned up.
I transplanted to the final grow bags about 6 days ago and the tops look ok but everything underneath is crispy critters, when I transplanted to the main pots the roots were rootbound. These are autoflower so time is limited. So start over or not?
Thanks, RJ

@HMGAdmin So where are the answers from the so called “panel of experts”? I’ve seen a few valid questions and zero expert responses.
