At the federal level, marijuana remains prohibited. Not in individual states, though. Some still do not allow its cultivation or use while others do. Now, even if you happen to live in a place where you could buy and consume pot for therapeutic purposes, you would need one more thing. Apply for a medical marijuana card, otherwise called cannabis card or MMID. In this section, you can discuss anything from legal issues to getting a license.

I’m working on getting my medical ID. Is it easier to pay for an online doctor who is familiar with the process? Or take the recommendation to my private physician?
Also who determines the number of plants you are allowed to grow?

Thanks @gareth I got my medical card and thanks for the information. I’m in So Cal and the laws are confusing at times and change frequently but seems that having the card offers some protective benefits
